Born into a musical family and forged into the heart of Paris, Sotiris is following a path accompanied by the guitar from the very start. The award-winning guitarist’s multicoloured repertoire starts from the 17th century to music written today, collaborating with composers in his search to expand the repertoire of his instrument. Appreciated by the artists of the French capital, he has been hailed for his musicality and technique on the guitar.
His solo career started at the age of 10 when he played his first concert. Today he has performed across Europe and Japan as a soloist and chamber musician. He collaborates with the major orchestras of his native Greece and performs for the French Radio (France Musique) and the National Television of his country (ERT). An avid chamber musician, he formed "Argos" with the French accordionist Julien Beautemps. An explosive duet with completely original arrangements of masterpieces like Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue or Ravel’s Bolero...
Sotiris is currently leading a creation project inviting composers from all corners of the earth to write music inspired by ancient Greece, a dream he had ever since he left his country. No stranger to giving life to new music, the acclaimed French composer Edith Lejet, after listening to his interpretation of her music, said "I was delighted to see the beauty and the extreme variety of sounds that Sotiris is able to create with his instrument”.
The Greek guitarist has won numerous awards in prestigious international competitions, including most recently the 1st Prizes in the Antony International Guitar Competition (France) and in the Seville International Guitar Festival (Spain) while also becoming Lauréat of the Fondation Banque Populaire and named “Révélation Guitare Classique 2024” by the French magazine Guitare Classique. An inspired guitar teacher, he is invited to give masterclasses at festivals while also holding a position in the Regional Conservatory of Versailles.
Sotiris owes his musical path to his father, who was his first teacher. After graduating from the Conservatory of Macedonia (class of Fotis Baxes), he moved to France, where the Conservatoire of Bordeaux was his next stop, then Seville (class of Francisco Bernier) and finally the Conservatoire de Paris under Olivier Chassain and later Tristan Manoukian. Currently he’s following the advices of Judicaël Perroy. Still a resident of the Conservatoire, he is pursuing the Artist Diploma.
